Pallet Types

Every type of wood pallet

From construction and deck style to entry and treatment — here's the full vocabulary, in plain English. Tap a size in the tool above to see any of these built in 3D.

CONSTRUCTION

Stringer Pallet

Three parallel boards called stringers run between the decks. The classic, economical GMA design — 2-way entry, or 4-way when the stringers are notched.

CONSTRUCTION

Block Pallet

Nine solid blocks replace stringers for true 4-way entry. Stronger and more stable — preferred for automation, racking, and pooling systems.

CONSTRUCTION

Skid

A base with a top deck and legs but no bottom deck. The original pallet — easy to drag and ideal under heavy machinery.

DECK

Double-Face Reversible

Identical top and bottom decks, so either side can carry the load. Strong, durable, and wears evenly over its life.

DECK

Double-Face Non-Reversible

Top and bottom decks differ — only the top carries the load, while the bottom adds strength and conveyor stability.

DECK

Single-Face Pallet

Top deck only, with no bottom deck. Light and stackable — common for retail displays and one-way shipments.

DECK

Solid (Closed) Deck

Top boards laid tight with no gaps for a continuous surface. Best for small parts, no-spill loads, and sanitary use.

DECK

Open Deck

Deck boards spaced with gaps — the most common build. Lighter, and lets debris and moisture fall through.

PROFILE

Flush Pallet

Deck boards sit flush with the stringers or blocks — no overhang. Maximizes usable deck within the footprint.

PROFILE

Single-Wing Pallet

The top deck overhangs the stringers (the 'wings') while the bottom stays flush, adding top support area.

PROFILE

Double-Wing Pallet

Both decks overhang the stringers, forming a winged 'I-beam' profile for extra strength and sling handling.

ENTRY

2-Way Entry

Forks enter from two opposite sides only. Built on solid, un-notched stringers — simple and strong.

ENTRY

4-Way Entry

Forks and pallet jacks enter all four sides — via notched stringers or block construction. Faster handling in tight docks.

EXPORT

Heat-Treated (ISPM-15)

Wood heated to a 56°C core and IPPC-stamped — pest-free and certified for international shipping.

TREATMENT

Kiln-Dried (KD)

Dried in a kiln to cut moisture, weight, and mold risk. Cleaner and lighter for sensitive or indoor loads.
